Art and Science

Hey guys,

Last week, John and I visited the Hickory Art Museum and Catawba Science Center. The Hickory Art Museum is open free to the public and the Catawba Science Center was only $4 for us, because of John's work discount...yay! It was a fun day and I thought I would share with you some of the pictures from the trip. :)

The following are some of our favorites from the art museum. I took several pictures of paintings of cardinals (they make me think of my gg. Here's two of them. :)

This mural was used in a restaurant.

I love this artist, Minnie Reinhardt.

These wooden sculptures were pretty neat!

And here starts the Science Center pics. I just loved the turtles!

and the rays...one cool dude!

"sun" bathing

hermit crab!

Just love this colorful tank!

It's Nemo!

Sea horse...my favorite <3 td="td">

Quick pic while we wait for the planetarium show---"Summer Star Series"

I thought this was an appropriate pic considering I'm always hot...not sure if you can read the sign but it says "Mars may look like a hot desert but it's cold, cold, cold." I'm thinking Mars sounds nice, right about now...lol. I'm 35 weeks here!

The dinosaur exhibit---this will sadly end in September, but I'm very curious about what will come next!

John digging for fossils. I look forward to bringing Declan here, it was a great place for kids.

John playing with the rocket.

He's one big kid! lol
We had a great time and look forward to returning, especially with Declan! :)

My Top Guilty Pleasures

Hey Guys,

So I was browsing one of my most favorite blogs today, Miss Cami's. She had the coolest post up on her Top 10 Guilty Pleasures, and I hope she won't mind me sharing some of mine. ;)

My Top 7 Guilty Pleasures:
(In no particular order)

*Bubble baths- I don't get them very often, but when I do....it's heaven! (I'm sure I'll get them even less often once D is born...BUT it will make me appreciate them even more. ;)

*Soda- I know, I know. Soda is absolutely horrible for you. I'm guessing it's the flavor and practically being raised up on it. (If anyone has any suggestions on how to wean myself off, please share. I'm seriously wanting to get off after Declan is born. I want to lose weight and have some goals I'm brainstorming at the moment. Btw, I don't keep soda in the house. We do have some here now, but normally I get it when I go out.)

* My Grooveshark playlist(s)- I have one completely dedicated to soundtracks, which includes many, many, of my favorite musicals and songs from Glee! and The Voice. One of the others includes anything from BSB to Hootie and the Blowfish to The Rat Pack.

* Mani/pedis- I haven't had many opportunities to have this done professionally, so many are done at home. BUT they are always so relaxing.

* Desperate Housewives- Okay, I know what you are thinking...most people think this show is completely shallow and is completely about sex...but from episode 1 (I started watching on Netflix last year) I was hooked...the mystery, the women (Bree is my absolute favorite), the storylines are strong and keep you wanting more, and so much more.

*Retail Therapy- Like most girls, I love to shop. I can spend hours in stores (it's not always clothing stores, in fact, I hate some clothing shopping...like jeans...agh!) What makes it even better is when I have a coupon and a sale. :)

I don't consider myself a shopaholic, just love this movie. ;)

*Baking- There is something about baking, that relaxes me. I think it's because I love making others happy and it's a piece of myself that I can share with others.

So those are mine, feel free to comment and share! :)
