This is my first link-up with Christian Mommy Blogger's Fellowship on Fridays! I'm super excited to welcome all of those sweet ladies who click on my link to check out what I'm doing over here at my little blog. Sit down and stay awhile. I've got coffee perking and am always up for good conversation. :)
So the past couple of days I've had an idea ruminating. (That's an interesting word, don't you think?) This idea came to me while I was watching my precious 7 month old son, Declan, work on pulling up. This is his newest accomplishment. (Proud first time mama here!) Declan is really good at getting himself to a standing position with the assistance of anything he can find: coffee table, couch, etc. The issue is he doesn't have great balance yet. He is wobbly and falls down and has wipe outs often. This ensures a lot of crying and soothing time with him. He is a total champ though and doesn't cry too often. I try hard to show him that it's not the end of the world to fall and that it's okay to pick yourself up again.
This quickly made me think of us as Christians and how it's very easy to be afraid to stand up again when the world has knocked you down a few hundred times. It's so easy to just throw in the towel and say that I'm done. Can I tell you something? I've thought of that before. Yes, it has crossed my mind, to just stop. Wouldn't that be so easy? BUT guess what, God wouldn't let me. There is something completely undeniable about the Father's love for us. Once you have that relationship His words and His teachings begin to buzz in your ears and quitting just seems like a really bad joke. God never gives you more than you can handle though I have wondered aloud, "God, you must think I'm a whole lot stronger than I think. How can I handle all of this?!" And he always gives me the same answer. "You can't. You alone can't do it, but with My Strength you can."
So today, I hope that if you are feeling like throwing in the towel, don't. STOP! Give yourself a moment to take a deep breath. Think about the love the Father has for you. Think about this verse, "God is our refuge and strength. A very present help in trouble." Psalm 46:1. (My memory verse for the week. How cool is that?! I didn't think anything of it until I started typing this post.) God knows you are overwhelmed. He knows your every thought and your every feeling. Take all of this to Him in prayer. The love He has can wash over any circumstance.
I want to thank you for each and every person that takes the time to visit my blog. You know who you would have come to my little blog community and I want Your Will done here. I thank you for this beautiful day and the opportunities that are available. I pray that you keep our eyes and hearts open to what You have in store for us. We know that you have great plans for us. It's in Your Great and Powerful name I pray.
A big thank you again to all those who stopped by! Be sure to check out the other blog posts at Fellowship on Fridays!
