Blog Challenge (Day 6: Your 5 Senses Right Now)

Hey guys!

Today's post is all about the senses.

Sight:

Right now I'm looking at my messy computer desk and typing this sentence. ;) A poster, made by a dear friend, is just above my desk as well as an Audrey Hepburn calendar. To my left, is the printer, which is sadly being used to hold more of our junk and to my right, is our bookshelf, which is overflowing with books and on the bottom shelf now---toys.

Hearing:

I convinced John to check out the first episode of Heartland, so that is my current background noise. Declan is also making his favorite growling noises. ;)

Taste:

I have the taste of watermelon still lingering from after dinner. Yum!

Touch:

I feel the keyboard beneath my fingers as well as my arms touching  the desk and my feet touching the wood on my chair.

Smell:

I can't smell anything. My noise is stuffy and allergies are acting up! :/

Blog Challenge! (Day 5, 10 Songs you love right now)

Hello, Hello!

So today's challenge is a little daunting. My taste in music is pretty fickle. It's more based on what kind of mood I'm in. So I'm not sure that I can narrow it down to 10 songs. So what I will (try) to do is share a handful of artists that I enjoy. Maybe that will be sufficient...lol. (In no particular order. Seriously, please do not read into the order.;)





  • The Corrs- I'm obsessed with Ireland. I will go there one day. Until that day I will listen to these beautiful people.



  • Hootie and the Blowfish- Nostalgia...sigh! I miss the 90's. This music makes me so happy! Honorable mentions for the 90s- NSync, Backstreet Boys, 98 degrees, Britney Spears, basically anything that you would probably feel embarrassed to admit that you love.



  • Maroon 5- I know this is horrible. I once had the biggest crush on Adam Levine. Lol




  • Pat Benatar- I love powerful women artists such as Pat Benatar, Heart, Carly Simon, Cher, Stevie Nicks, etc. I love hearing women rocking out and just being awesome! ;)



  • Journey- Journey is just an awesome group. Who doesn't like Don't Stop Believin' How can you hate that song? Other bands I would be remiss if I didn't mention: The Beach Boys, The Beatles, and many more. My brain is running low on coffee and drawing up nothing. You get where I'm going. It's hard to list these and choose...lol.



  • Glee!!!- Oh my gosh! Glee, this show, the music. It makes me so freakin happy. This was my dream. If I had the talent to sing and dance I would have been on Broadway. (Sigh!) Oh and I'm ridiculously behind on this show. :(

  • Katy Perry-I shouldn't like Katy Perry. I really shouldn't. But I do.



  • Toby Mac- Okay, maybe this will make up for my last choice. Lol. I love Toby Mac. He makes worship fun and about who it's all about. <3 li="">




  • Mandisa- She is so encouraging and uplifting. She is truly talented and inspired.



  • Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack- I don't know what really got me into Sinatra and the Rat Pack gang, but I love them and their sound.



  • Music from Pretty Little Liars- I'm hooked on this show. (Another I'm seriously behind on!) Pretty much any music from this show I love.


So as you can see my taste in music is all over the place. Here's some more artists I enjoy:

Goo Goo Dolls, Nora Jones, Daughtry, David Cook, Lady Gaga (Yep, I have no idea.), Cyndi Lauper, Adele, Etta James, Straight No Chaser, Flogging Molly, Michael Buble, Dierks Bentley, 3 Doors Down, No Republic, Sara Bareilles, Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry, No Doubt, Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson, Chris Tomlin, Tenth Avenue North, Third Day, Florence and the Machine, The Postmarks, The Postal Service, Ingrid Michaelson, Coldplay and much more!!!

Blog Challenge (Day 4 What are you afraid of?)

Hey everyone,

I could probably use this post to talk about some of my small fear like spiders, clowns, etc. but I think to encompass them all would be my fear of failure.

 I think part of this stems from being the oldest daughter (always feeling that extra pressure to please my parents) and being raised in a world that has a very different idea of what constitutes as success. I also think that it stems from me having some perfectionist qualities, which (Thank you, God) I have let go (some) since having my son.



My fear of failure has prevented me from doing some things in life that I would like to do. I'm thankful that I'm more firmly grasping this now. It helps. It helps me to know that if I never try. I'll never know. I'll always have that plaguing feeling in the back of my mind. I don't want that. I already think too much as it is. I don't need that added to my brain.

I'll leave you with this thought below and ask you what do you fear? Whatever it is (BIG or small) don't let it get in the way of reaching your dreams and becoming the person you are meant to be! :)

31 Day Blog Challenge! (Day 1 Intro and recent photo)

Hey guys,

So this week is very busy with preparations for our big week long (I can't believe it!) trip to Ga! I'm so excited at the thought of visiting family and friends. We have so many fun things planned and I will be ready to blog on it all when I return. ;)

In the meantime, I have decided to start this blog challenge found here. I realized after the fact that it was for the month of May, but you know what I want to do it anyway! ;) So here I am. I'll be sharing with my readers a little bit about me every day until I complete the challenge. I will also continue with my Daring Girls series and regular updates when I return as I said above.

So on with Day 1!

For those new here, my name is Anna. I'm 27 years young. I'm married to my best friend, John. Our anniversary is coming up on August 15, we will be married 5 wonderful years. Shortly after we married we adopted our super sweet fur baby, Sophie. Sophie is a black lab mixed with chow. She is our rambunctious oldest. She has become an amazing older sister and protector to our most recent addition, John Declan. Declan was born September 22, 2012. That day changed our lives forever and I can't believe his first birthday is quickly approaching! Everyday he is changing, growing, and learning so much! We are so proud and if you stick around you can see updates on his monthly progress. ;)

I'm a proud SAHM. Despite some ideas in society, I love my job and feel quite blessed to have the ability to stay at home and to have the gift of educating my son. I feel that God has placed that gift in my heart as well as sharing my story here and hopefully, my words can be an inspiration to others. This is one of my favorite recent pictures of myself and my son. I love it because even though I'm wearing junky clothes for working out and my hair is a mess, I know that I'm working hard toward a more healthy lifestyle.

Weekend Roundup and Questions

Hi guys!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Ours was pretty nice!


Friday: John found out he had some vacation hours that would expire from last year, so he was able to take the day off. We spend much of the day just relaxing around the house. That evening we went to Lowes Foods and picked up subs from the daily, chips, and toppings for ice cream sundaes. We watched Iron Man 2, which was pretty disappointing to me. I thought the first one was much better. We then watched various tv shows and ended the night playing Mario Party 8. Overall, it was a pretty perfect evening.

Saturday: I'm finally caught up on the household chores. (For the most part, there is always something to do. lol) John's cousin got us free tickets to The Biltmore House, so we will be visiting there very soon. So excited! That evening, we were happy to have a visit with our friends, Jonathan and Regina Stafford. It was so great enjoying dinner and cookies and catching each other up on life. Looking forward to all the fun plans for the future. :)

A guy in my kindergarten class, I think his name was Dustin. My first celebrity crush was Andrew Keegan.



2. Where do you see yourself in five years? Be honest.

I hope that I can get my blog monetized and that I will be a successful Scentsy consultant. (I may get back into Medical Transcription, not sure yet.) All of this in mind, my greatest job will be being a mother and I hope to home school my children. I also hope to be involved in a church and happier in my spiritual life.

3. If you could travel to one country for a week, where would you go, and where would you want to stay?

Ireland...no question! It would be amazing to stay in a castle..but I would just be so ecstatic and happy to be there...I wouldn't care!





4. When are you happiest?

When I'm spending time with my wonderful husband. <3





5. When was the last time you cried?

This morning, couldn't sleep and watched a movie that made me cry pretty hard.

6. Mountains or Beach?

I love both, but Mountains!

7. If you had unlimited money, which store would you visit first?

Barnes and Nobles---any book store!





8. What is your favorite quote or verse?

I have a lot of those, but here's one I would like to share.

Photo Challenge Monday (except for it's Thursday)

Hey everyone!

That's the great thing about this challenge, it's incredibly flexible, you can link up as many pics as you want and you don't have to be a professional photographer! My favorite color is plum and I love this candle! :)

My mom, she has been through so much in her life and she keeps pushing on. She is such a strong woman and I hope I can be half as amazing as she is.

Housekeeping Rant and Plans

Hey everyone,




I have been really frustrated with the clutter around the house. I've begun cleaning out our guest bedroom and hoping to get things together to sale/donate. I think our biggest issue is we have too much stuff and not enough space, hence the selling/donating idea.This plus our daily chores plus our lives and I had pretty much lost steam with my projects. That was until I found this gem of a blog post on Pinterest, A bowl full of lemons,http://abowlfulloflemons.blogspot.com/search/label/21%20day%20challenge What a cute blog name! :)

This challenge has inspired me to finish my projects and get organized, so I can really enjoy all the fun non-holiday/holiday stuff to come. :) I will be going to the store tomorrow to get some organizational supplies. So I will be ready when I begin the challenge. One of my sister's is visiting this week, so I won't begin the challenge until Friday (the earliest) Monday (the latest). I will be updating at least once a week with my progress. I hope you all will join me and if you wish to participate click on the blog link above. :) Until then I will enjoy the visit and try to keep the house in one piece. ;)

On another note, I want to wish my sisters, Brandi and Kayla, a very Happy Birthday today! Love you girls! :)
